Brazilian Blowout Aftercare (48 Hours) at Our Hair Extensions Salon in Hewlett
By Eitan Daniel Hair & Color Salon | August 3, 2026
We hear the same thing all the time, hair felt unmanageable, styling took way too long, and mornings were frustrating. If you want your Brazilian Blowout to stay smooth and easy, the single most important rule is simple: leave your hair alone for 48 hours. No washing, no wetting it in the shower, no ponytails, no clips that crease, and no workouts that drench your roots.
48-hour headline: Keep hair dry, straight, and crease-free. This is the window where the smooth finish sets up for long-lasting frizz control and shine.
We’re in Hewlett (Five Towns), right by the Station Plaza area near the Hewlett LIRR station, so we get it. You want hair that behaves through coastal Long Island humidity, platform wind, and last-minute plans. The first 48 hours are the difference between “wow, that’s effortless” and “why is this already frizzing?”
Your first 24 to 48 hours: no water, no sweat, no creases
Right after your Brazilian Blowout, think of your hair like fresh polish. It looks amazing, but it’s not the time to test it. For the next 48 hours, we generally recommend you keep it completely dry and as smooth as possible.
Do this
- Sleep with your hair down and smooth. If it tangles easily, use your fingers to separate it gently instead of a tight tie.
- If you’re commuting through Hewlett LIRR, keep a small, soft scrunchie in your bag, but don’t use it yet. Let your hair stay loose until the 48 hours are up.
- If you get caught in rain or steam, blot, don’t rub. A towel twist can press texture right back in.
Avoid this
- No washing or wetting, including “just rinsing the sweat” in the shower.
- No heavy exercise for 48 hours. Sweat at the scalp is one of the quickest ways to mess with a fresh smoothing result. If sweat happens anyway, blot your hairline and change any clothing that’s rubbing your hair (hoodies, collars, scarves).
- No clips, barrettes, tight headbands, or sunglasses sitting on top of your head. Creases are real, and they tend to set fast.
If you absolutely need to look polished for a late-afternoon train or dinner, keep it simple. Brush through, wear it down, and use a low-heat pass with a blow dryer if your roots got humid. The goal is smooth and untouched.
The first week in July and August: humidity, salt air, and pool plans
Coastal Long Island weather is the real test. In the Five Towns, July and August bring humidity plus weekend beach and pool exposure. After your first 48 hours, you’ve got more flexibility, but the first week is still when good habits pay off.
Swimming rule we stick to
We recommend you avoid pools and ocean water for at least 48 to 72 hours. Chlorine and salt can dry the hair out and rough up the cuticle. If you accidentally get exposed, rinse with fresh water as soon as you can and follow with a gentle conditioner.
Heat styling is fine, but don’t overdo it
A Brazilian Blowout is popular because it cuts down daily styling time, especially for hair that used to take forever in the morning. Keep your iron temperature reasonable, use fewer passes, and don’t chase every last flyaway with high heat. Humidity control comes more from the right wash routine and a light serum than from blasting your hair.
Sulfate-free shampoo, fewer washes, and a light serum on the ends
After 48 hours, switch to sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo and a gentle conditioner. Skip clarifying shampoos and anything marketed as “deep clean” or “detox” unless we’ve told you it’s a fit for your hair. Those tend to strip faster and make frizz creep back in.
Our simple routine: Wash every 3 to 4 days if you can, condition every wash, and use a lightweight anti-frizz serum (silicone-based or argan oil) sparingly on mid-lengths and ends. If your hair gets weighed down easily, you’ll use less than you think.
If you color your hair, this routine helps your tone look better longer too. We do a lot of cut and color work in the salon, and smooth hair tends to show shine more, so your color reads richer.

Touch-ups every 3 to 4 months, plus quick help for Hewlett LIRR commuters
Most people do best with a Brazilian Blowout touch-up every 3 to 4 months. That keeps the smoothness consistent and stops you from feeling like you’re starting over each season. Pricing starts at $375 because hair density, length, and how much smoothing you want matters.
We’re right in Hewlett (Five Towns) near Station Plaza by the Hewlett LIRR station, so we plan with real schedules in mind. If you’re commuting or juggling family life, the best move is booking your smoothing service when you can actually protect those first 48 hours. Late-afternoon appointments work well when you can go home, keep hair down, and skip the gym for two days.
Quick styling option after day 2: A fast blow dry at the roots plus a pea-sized amount of serum on the ends usually gets you smooth hair that survives a humid platform wait and still looks polished at the office.

If something feels “off, ” reach out and we’ll fix it
A little extra flatness at the root right after a smoothing service can be normal, especially if you’re used to big volume. But you shouldn’t feel like your hair is sticky, coated in a weird way, or impossible to brush through. And you shouldn’t be guessing if you accidentally got it damp, tied it up, or went for a sweaty run too soon.
“Dimitri is wonderful. He’s always available whenever you need him. He’s very polite always offering water and great service. He loves what he does and you will never leave disappointed!”

Send us a note with what happened and a quick photo if you can. We’ll tell you what’s normal, what’s an easy at-home fix, and when it makes sense to pop back in. We work with clients across Hewlett and the nearby Five Towns communities, including Woodmere, Cedarhurst, Lawrence, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, and Valley Stream, so we keep aftercare practical and realistic.
